Mitsubishi LaserVue L65-A90 TV - Offers 3D-Ready Viewing Technology

Mitsubishi is reputed for its innovation and excellence in making products in the world of media entertainment.

At the end of 2008, Mitsubishi launched a television -- LaserVue L65-A90 that is housed in an attractive high gloss black plastic cabinet, with a very thin sloping edge of chisel encompassing the top, left and right side of its 65" screen. The bottom contains the left right speakers, electronics and optics. This device is the world's first laser powered HDTV and uses laser beams to provide a large range of rich detailed colors with clarity and admiring depth of field.

In this TV, the remote control is same as the ones Mitsubishi supplies with it other HDTVs, with the exception that the backlight is blue rather than red. There are three picture customs called "Natural", "Bright" and "Brilliant". The "Natural" picture mode adds a color space that is close to the HDTV broadcast standard called Rec. 709, while the" Brilliant" mode increases the color points beyond 709 to the widest color space. Special algorithm converts HDTV content to Mitsubishi's expanded color scope. The "Bright" mode is somewhere in-between Natural and Brilliant in its color range. Moreover the highlighting feature in this TV is its 3-D capability, which relied on a pair of shuttered glasses and looks very admirable across a variety of custom content.

Aside from the above said modes, there are two other picture enhancement modes -- Sharp Edge and Deep Field Imager. Sharp Edge mode offers not only edge enhancement, but also creates a white halo around sharp edges. The Deep Field Imager mode examines the image and dynamically promotes black levels in portions of the screen to provide strong detail. The L65-90 has all its inputs jacks mounted on the rear side panel thereby provides a high-standard connectivity levels.

The Best Picture Oscar Nominees For 2010

Hollywood is set to be busy in preparation for this year's Academy Awards. All film buffs will be eagerly awaiting the results to be read out on the 7th of March.

The most famed award, the most prestigious is the Oscar, and who will achieve it this year? There are many awards ceremonies throughout the year but this one is the most noteworthy of them all and it is this one that I shall be commenting on.

It is in the dreams of all directors to eventually win the best picture award. Winning such an award would see the future of the winning director set for further success with the security of budgets put aside for their next big hit.

Ten films this year have been nominated for the best picture award so following the race will be quite fun considering that there are more worthy contenders than usual.

Up, the Disney film of the year would be an unlikely win, even though it was a great film that moviegoers as well as critics really enjoyed.

An old man travels the world in a kind of house balloon with a child. It was a great film that came with a heart warming story and people are viewing Up as a possible award winner for this year Oscars.

The Coen Brothers came up with the film, A Serious Man, this was a dark comedy that people found to be excellent even though it didn't get to be a box office hit.

There is also Quentin Tarantino who gave us Inglorious Basterds. This was the movie that got Tarantino back on top form; if it doesn't see an Oscar this year, it may well get a best actor.

But Avatar by James Cameron is everyone's favourite to win this year's Oscar award as it brought something fresh to the screens of Hollywood.

Most Successful Actors Of All Time

A trip to the cinema is something that many of us enjoy. Though people may have different tastes in films, many have favourite actors and actresses. Who would you say is the most successful actor of all time?
I've been reading about the Oscars (the Academy Awards) and looking at the list of previous winners to see if there are any candidates that really stand out. It's been interesting to look through the list of names, like stepping through the history of cinema.

Not many actors have won more than one award for their acting ability, so those who have done so are really highlighted as truly great film stars.
Among those who have won an oscar for their acting on two separate occasions are the likes of Tom Hanks (a winner in 1993 for 'Philadelphia' and again the following year for 'Forrest Gump'), Hilary Swank and Denzel Washington. Such modern stars of the movies easily come to find.

Stepping back a bit further in time, Marlon Brando (a winner in 1954 for On The Waterfront and again in 1972 for 'The Godfather') is another who many would hold up as an example of a truly great actor.
Also with 2 Oscar wins are Jodie Foster, Dustin Hoffman, Elizabeth Taylor and Vivien Leigh, to name but a few.

The list of actors and actresses with 3 Oscar wins reveals a very select group indeed. Ingrid Bergman and Jack Nicholson each have that honour, as does Walter Brennan.
Brennan may be a less well known name to more recent cinema audiences, having won the last of his awards in 1940, for his role in 'The Westerner'.

There is one star who stands ahead of all the rest: Katharine Hepburn. Hepburn won 4 Oscars, over a span of some 49 years.
She can certainly lay claim to having been one of the finest actresses of all time, with her awards coming for her roles in 'Morning Glory', 'Guess Who's Coming To Dinner', 'The Lion in Winter' and 'On Golden Pond'.

We may disagree with the decisions of the judges, but there is no doubt that those who have won multiple Oscars include some of the world's greatest all time actors.

LCD 3D Enabled TV Systems Will Be Heading in Your Direction Sometime This Year

We are being told, by everyone with even a slight vested interest, that the new revolution in home entertainment will be LCD 3D TV. You can take it as read that you will be able to buy a 3D TV well before the year is out.

For anyone who are old enough to remember the pretty appalling attempt at a 3D film, Jaws 3, back in 1983, it will come as no surprise that the technology dates back to some time in the early 1970s. We have come a long way since then. The recent release and box office success of movies like Avatar and Monsters vs Aliens, both of which commanded a much higher ticket price than a 2 D screening and the planned big budget releases in 2010 of Tron Legacy, Shrek Forever After, Alice in Wonderland 3D plus many many more shows the public are taking to the technology this time round.

The big consumer electronics manufacturers have recognized this and the Consumer Electronics Show in January this year turned into nothing more than a bit of 3D one upmanship on the part of those companies. Ever where you turned the likes of Panasonic, LG, Sony and Samsung where lining up to their floor shows with the mantra seeming to be "mines bigger than yours", with Panasonic taking bragging rights with their fantastic 150 plus inches of plasma 3D TV. They all have new lines ready for release this year and Sony do have the 3D ready Bravaria TV on sale right now.

One of the main gripes about 3D in the past has centered around the image flicker. It does seem that HDTV 1080p along with the latest generation of LCD 3D glasses has put paid to this problem. These latest 3D glasses are a million miles from the blue/red lens numbers used in the early days. They have powered shutters that are synced, using radio waves, with the projected left and right eye image. They can also now be purchased with Bluetooth technology as I saw these being promo'd at the show.

So we have the 3D LCD TV, we have the 3D LCD glasses both working together, but what about the content? 2010 will be the year that 3D broadcasting becomes main stream. There are a number of big media companies working hard to push the technology forward and not just for those with deep pockets. They needed to match the commitment of the manufacturers to deliver this instantly to the masses or once again it stood a chance of stalling before it really gets started. BSkyB are well into their testing and I would not be surprised if their projected autumn 2010 launch is not brought forward, with their sports broadcasts of some of the main summer sporting events making it onto 3D. Across the pond ESPN have committed to in the region of 100 broadcasts during 2010 in 3D. Put those together with the tri-company partnership between Sony, Imax and the Discovery Channel to provide consumers with 3D broadcasts and you can see this is going to happen very soon.

It goes without saying but the LCD 3D TV market is going to get pretty hectic and the consumers choice of which, what and where to buy a 3D TV will just get harder as time goes on, because we all know that historically this happens.

Download 10,000 BC Full Movie

If you are thinking about downloading 10, 000 BC online then you've got to consider a few things. There are a lot of sites offering movie downloads and most of the sites have 10000 BC in the library.

Some sites charge per download or some charge a one-time fee of around $30. It is better to choose the one-time option because these sites will allow you to download unlimited movies not only one.

Some movie download sites like Warez are illegal but there are others that charge you a one time fee and offer legal full length movie downloads. If you are new to downloading movies online then you'll feel all the sites offer the same service but it's not the same. Though the design is somewhat similar there is difference in each website.

Some sites will offer movie downloads that will be compatible with only your computer while there are a few sites that allow you to download to your iTunes and are compatible with all the latest portable devices. They will also support DVD burning and conversion into Mp3 files.

Clarity is a very important thing. There are a few sites that offer high quality download of 10,000 BC while a few others have a low quality. Speed is another thing that is essential for your download. You'd want to ensure that the site offers high speed downloads because if the speed is really low then you'll never have the full movie off 10,000 BC on your computer.

You should also check the number of titles offered by the sites. Some have around a million while a few have over 80 million titles. It's good to consider the 80 million one as they are likely to have all your favorites.

Few of these sites offer movie downloads, music downloads, television shows, games and mp3 download. Some sites also offer software downloads. You should also check for spyware, virus and adware protection for your download to be safe.

Avatar - Just a Movie, Or a Turning Point?

Occasionally a great film captures the undercurrent of our collective human psyche. When we historically look back at the movie, it becomes apparent that the film called attention to something that was stirring inside of us, yet unexpressed, and either the movie deliberately was produced to capture this subconscious undercurrent, or the undercurrent was so ripe that the first movie that touched on these subconscious urgings became an instant hit. Either way, Avatar is that kind of movie.

Beyond the cutting edge animation and state of the art 3D cinema lies a truth that has been ignored for a long time now, a truth that has just begun to touch the hearts of mainstream America revealing the essence of the human spirit; that goodness eventually prevails, and evil is dispelled. For decades, it's been the other way around.

A great shift in human values is happening before our eyes. People are becoming tired of the old way of doing business, which is by selfishness, contention and hatred. The tipping point is very near for this shift, and this movie could be the straw that breaks the camel's back regarding the illusions we have been living under for a long time - that our happiness lies in the cynical promise of advantages over others, and the promise of selfish opportunity to acquire and possess personal fortunes without harming others.

My experience as a meditation teacher indicates that the kids of this new generation are different. They observe the struggle and stress that their parents are putting themselves through, which many times results in divorce, to make unreasonable amounts of money to buy things and amass the fortunes now required for college tuitions and retirement. And the kids want no part of it. It's just too much for the average kid to comprehend.

Young adults of the new generation email me;

"I started to analyze this life I have been living, going through the motions. I saw that the knowledge I am receiving in college is filtered through society's ways of life- get a career, work hard, get money, promote yourself and your status. I started to realize that so many humans are living based on false notions...this way of life isn't right. Going about doing this and doing that, back and forth, going through the societal system, harming others for personal pleasure...there has to be something deeper.

And,

"Through seeing that the desires of this world are not true happiness but the continuation of suffering by the attachment of worldly goods and pleasures..... As a wise man once wrote " I close my eyes in order to see"... will be able to help others through an unclouded mind unaffected by the desires of this world."

And finally,

"I want to face the spiritual experiences... really understand this journey we find ourselves on. I want to find true meaning in my life and escape this man made rat race where people always, always seem to fight for material and personal gain. My view of life has changed quite a bit recently...now I want my life itself to change, for the better."

These young adults express human values that lead to true happiness, and actually they are already very wise because they understand where true happiness lies, but are confused by the signals our society sends them.

Avatar the movie might just be that voice that defines this new generation's heart. If this is true, the tipping point of virtue, over selfishness and profits, may be closer than we think.

That's when our lives and focus will change dramatically.

3D TV Glasses - Eye Gaze Track and Project Screen Scene to You

3D-TV seems to get to stay close pretty fast, and all energy-producing works, these marvels of free hot and heavy, that a person-tech early-adopter-hungry. In this year's CES (Consumer Electronics Show) in Las Vegas, 3D TV is as popular as the iPhone, Motorola, Droid, and the promises of the Nexus One Google Smart Phone.

We all remember as kids going to the movies and wearing this card in 3D and funkyglasses worn. I remember the first 3D movie matinee, and I saw how cool it was, 3D View Jaws III as a teenager - Fast forward to today and you can see and next year the world championships in various sports and movie channels. Manufacturers of 3D glasses are already producing them for those who want a future to participate in a surround sound, flat panel, 3D living room.

No, it will be cheap, but if we are not allin this way - perhaps until the next new thing, holographic TV and games room - I have a suggestion. I propose instead to build eye-tracking goggles or glasses, 3D TV, so if your eye sees a certain part of the screen, larger and closer to the rest of the screen for the less committed. Why you ask? Well, make 3D TV in personal experience and every person a bit 'different and unique.

If those staffHigh-tech option at all possible?
They are people who currently have the technological progress, to do this?

Yes, and I imagine that for military use, drones flying, online gaming or work permits, and training simulator? Yes, so 'many applications in practice. So we have this technology now? Yes, indeed we have the eye-tracking technology, vision in the eye of record, and then everything we do what must be the integration of our future 3D TV in electronic toys.

Well,This requires someone like me, so at any time? No, because I think it is easy possible future, and once everyone starts with 3-D TV and / or is used to the reality or VR-AR (augmented reality or virtual) game, I'm finally going to ask. So, start time is our best and brightest minds in the field of toys and consumer electronics are working on this new technological concept to me. Please consider this.

The Advantages And Disadvantages Of DLP TVs

The technology behind DLP TVs has actually been around for a few yaers now, but only recently has it started to really come into it's own. DLP stands for Digital Light Processing, and suffice it to say that the way it produces a screen image is a perfect match for the HDTV standard that will soon become the accepted method of television broadcasting.

If you haven't heard much yet about DLP TVs, you will soon. But here are some of the advantages to their design:

1. They are great in brightly lit rooms. Because they use a reflective technology to produce the screen image, a DLP screen is less affected by ambient light than many other monitors. It can also produce a picture that has more contrast because it can produce deeper blacks than for instance, LCD TVs.

2. DLP TVs boast a very high refresh rate. The refresh rate is how often the screen is redrawn each second. The faster the refresh rate, the easier you eye can put the images displayed into a seamless picture in your mind. What this means for you is that if you like to watch sports or play fast action video games, the screen will appear smoother and more realistic with a DLP TV because of it's fast refresh rate.

3. DLP monitors are usually compatible with almost any video source that you want to connect them to. They can even be used as a computer monitor too. Just be sure that a DLP monitor has all of the necessary connections present to be mated with the video sources that you intend to use.

There are however a few disadvantages to DLP TVs that you should be aware of too:

1. DLP screens can be viewed from a fairly wide angle from the center of the television with no problem, but they absolutely must be viewed at eye level for the best picture as the brightness of the picture falls off rapidly when viewed either above or below eye level. This can restrict where you place them for best viewing position in your room and should be a point taken into consideration before purchase.

2. Although the DLP monitor itself can last almost forever, the light source that produces the image only has an average lifespan of about 10,000 hours. That is of course, still a lot of TV viewing time, but if you have your TV on for several hours a day be aware that the clock is ticking on the light bulb and when you do replace it, you may be spending over $200 for a replacement.

All in all, DLP monitors represent a great advancement in the field of television viewing though, and the technology is being rapidly accepted and improved on. But as with any TV purchase it is best to actually demo a particular model in person before ordering it online if you choose to do so.

Flat Screen Televisions LCD Vs Plasma

When it comes to flat screen televisions lcd vs plasma seems to be the epic battle. However, many shoppers don't know the difference. Recently, the cost has come down significantly on both types, making either one more affordable. Now buyers are faced with the questions of 'lcd vs plasma which is better?' and 'what television is best for me?'

Flat Screen Televisions LCD vs Plasma: Which One is Best?

Both televisions offer features and benefits that are distinct. As for which one is 'best', it really depends on YOUR situation.

LCD TV'S vs PLASMA TV'S: Plasma Televisions

Although the picture quality of the LCD is said to be sharper, Plasma images offer more realistic colors, and a wider range of colors. As a result, they handle contrast better and produce deeper, darker 'blacks.' Plus, they offer a wider viewing angle. If your room doesn't allow full 'head on' viewing, a Plasma would be the better choice. As for life span, LCD's lighting source can be replaced, giving it longer life. However, most plasma's still provide a minimum of 30,000 hours (sometimes double that amount). That might not sound like much, but if you watched 10 hours of TV a day for a year it would be over 8 years before any major picture depreciation occurs. So in the battle of flat screen televisions lcd vs plasma, you should pick a plasma if cost is a concern or your viewing area is wide.

LCD TV'S vs PLASMA TV'S: LCD Televisions

LCD's generally cost anywhere from $200-700 more than plasmas, depending on the make and model. LCDs also have a larger selection of screen sizes and have brighter screens, so if the room has many windows, or other bright lights, LCD televisions are the better choice. In addition, the bulb can be replaced which helps add to the life span of an LCD TV. LCDs are also better for people living at high altitudes because it isn't affected like the gases in plasma. Plus, as far as energy consumption, the LCD is the more efficient of the two. So when selecting your flat screen televisions, lcd vs plasma, LCD is a great option for eco-conscious owners, persons with a lot of windows in the same room, or at high altitudes who don't mind paying a little more.

Everything You Need to Know About Subwoofers

Subwoofer refers to either a woofer, or a complete loudspeaker dedicated to the reproduction of bass audio frequencies, typically from 150 Hz down to 20 Hz.

Subwoofers are useful for augmenting main loudspeakers by providing playback of low bass frequencies at high levels. Subwoofers are available in several formats, including bass reflex, acoustic suspension, infinite baffle, horn loaded, tapped horn and bandpass types. The range of sounds from lowest to highest that the subwoofer can play is called frequency. The actual frequency may vary depending on the type of window, the crossover point, and the vehicle the subwoofer is installed inside

All speakers typically compromise between frequency response and transient response or reaction depends on the properties of the coil, the magnetic properties of the motor, the mass of the cone, and the nature of the case.

The coil is a coil of wirewound around it. The voice coil is attached to the bottom of the cone and extends into the air gap surrounding the pole piece. The voice coil translates the magnet's energy into cone motion. Cone size and voice coil inductance are major factors for a subwoofer.

Subwoofers use drivers woofers typically between 8" and 18" in diameter, but some have been as large as 60". Some drivers as small as 4" may be referred to as subwoofers but drivers less than 8" generally have neither the cone area nor excursion ability necessary to produce deep bass, especially in practical sized enclosures. The most common subwoofer sizes in professional concert audio are 12", 15" and 18".

A brief history

The first subwoofer was developed during the 1960s by Ken Kreisel. Kreisel's solution was to design a powered loudspeaker that would reproduce only those frequencies that were too low for the electrostatic speakers to convey and thereby fill in the missing sonic information. The Infinity range electrostatic speaker system of not less than the same period a subwoofer for the lower frequency range of the electrostatic matrices evade adequate coverage. Subwoofer came to greater public attention in 1974.

Applications Subwoofer

Subwoofers are used in different systems. The main application areas are professional audio, home audio, car audio and many other areas. Subwoofers are now almost universal in professional audio applicationssuch as live concert sound, churches, clubs and theme parks. professional audio subwoofer must be capable of very high levels. This design is given attention in recent years on the subwoofer for PA applications, audio and concert against.

A subwoofer does not necessarily provide superior bass performance in comparison to large conventional loudspeakers on ordinary music recordings in the absence of very low frequencies onsuch sources. Most home and car systems have much smaller and unmatched drivers at low frequencies; they attempt to reproduce very low frequencies with large cone motions.

The Benefits of a Flat LCD TV

Image : http://www.flickr.com

There are other benefits that you can get form a flat LCD TV, besides the low profile and extra space. For instance, it offers the highest resolution of any other kind of television. This amazing television also seems to have no glare at all because it has a very low glare. Unlike a normal curved TV screen, the flat profile of a flat LCD TV does not catch light from any direction and send it to the viewers in the form of glare.

This wonderful television model is similar to a mirror and is only vulnerable to light disturbances from a particular direction. This modern type of television will not reflect light back at you unless there is a powerful light source from that specific spot.

A flat LCD TV does not have a cathode ray tube that is present in a normal TV. A cathode ray tube, or CRT, is basically a gun that shoots out electrons at high speed at the surface of a normal TV. These electrons then strike a surface that fluoresces or glows and produces a pixel on the screen.

A CRT television needs to have a curved screen and enough depth to position an electron gun behind it and shoot the image out of the television. In contrast, a flat LCD TV uses a light source with polarizing filters and a thin layer of liquid crystals in between. This allows it to be very thin and efficient in terms of space.

A flat LCD television will initially cost more than a normal TV, but it also uses up far less power. This means that you can save money in the long run because it cuts down on your electricity bill. The clarity of the image is another major advantage that a flat LCD TV offers. You will simply never see a clearer image on other types of television because there will be no distortion from the curved screen that is present in normal TVs.

A flat LCD TV also has better resolution and clearer defined boundaries than most normal TVs. You will see the difference when you watch normal TV programs. However, it is most noticeable when you look at DVD movies because they are at a higher resolution than normal TV programs. The LCD television is the best way to go for die hard movie fans.

Plasma TV and LCD TV: Televisions of the Future

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Although both Plasma TV's and LCD TV's display a big picture in a thin case, there are many notable differences between the two devices.

The plasma television sets are larger than LCD's and measure about 42 inches. The size of the LCD is approximately 37 inches. But a 42-inch LCD TV would cost $1000 more than the plasma television set. The LCD TV's weigh lesser than the plasma set. The plasma television sets are bulky and therefore they constantly require installation. They are well structured in order to prevent overheating due to constant usage by a means of proper ventilation.

The plasma televisions exhibit a contrast background and therefore are very appropriate for watching movies as you experience the enjoyment of a home theatre. LCD TV's are mostly bright screened and appropriate if your room is brightly lit. The plasma TV's do not appear lucid when the room is brightly lit. At the same time, the LCD TV's seem to emit strong rays when the room is darker.

You can watch your television from different angles when you are watching the plasma TV. The same convenience is not available in case of LCD as it bears a flat screen. As you move further we can feel the loss of brightness.

But there are a few disadvantages when you own a plasma television set. When it is linked to video, it often tends to leave an image for a long time. These images often get permanently etched on the screen. At the bottom of the screen, the text or the logos of the other networks are often seen and it causes a disturbance to the viewer. The estimated life of a plasma TV is around 25000 to 35000 hours.

According to Alfred Poor's anticipations, the LCD television will continue to be an expensive set compared to the other televisions.

Benefits of 3D Glasses

Image : http://www.flickr.com

With 3D movies gaining in popularity and a number of 3D televisions coming onto the market in the near future it can be a bit confusing as to how each system works, there is currently no real universal 3D system with a number of methods fighting for overall control of the market, out of the 4 current methods to watch 3D there are 3 different 3D glasses that are used in conjunction with each type. These four types include polarizing, active shutter and lenticular technology, along with the age old anaglyph method we all know and love.

To understand how 3D glasses work you have to have a basic understanding of how depth perception is gauged by the human eye, quite simply each eye is spaced a distance apart which means the image each sees is slightly different from the other, the brain then does its thing and turns these two images into a single image with the addition of depth. This process is used to create 3D images, when watching a 3D movie or looking at a 3D picture you are in fact looking at two slightly different images at once, the 3D glasses complete the process by blocking out one image from each eye so your two eyes are looking at two slightly different images each just like in real life, it really is quite simple but truly amazing!

The 3D glasses for each method are different, with anaglyph 3D you wear glasses that have red/blue lenses, what you are watching consists of two images per frame which is processed in each color so one image is filtered out by each eye. This is the old method that was used for the massive 3D movie boom of the 80's. The new more popular method used in cinemas is with the aid of polarization, with this method two images are shown each polarized differently, the 3D glasses you wear with this method are clear and each lens is polarized to allow only one of the two images into each eye, for example the right lens may be polarized to only allow horizontal light waves through while the left lens will only allow vertical.

There are two newer methods currently coming onto the market, used mainly for home use on new 3D televisions and monitors, these use active shutter and lenticular technology. With active shutter 3D you need special battery powered LCD glasses that block out alternate images displayed at high speed on a screen capable of a 120 Hz refresh rate. The other new method is lenticular technology which does not require 3D glasses at all because the TV itself creates the 3D image by reflecting light at slightly different angles towards the viewer with its unique screen.

So now you know the features of the three different types of 3D glasses you can just sit back and enjoy the show.

HDTV Converters

HDTV converters are specially designed devices for signal conversion. HDTV, also known as High Definition Television, is the most recent innovation in DTV. The HDTV can telecast pictures with high resolutions which are twice more than the traditional analog telecasts and surround sound.

Generally, the HDTV converters are incorporated in most of the HDTV systems. But, the HDTV systems are quite expensive. Moreover, today, most of the homes have analog television sets. To enjoy the effect of HDTV, you can implement a HDTV converter in your analog televisions sets. The HDTV converters will transform the digital signals into analog signals. Thus, the converter will help the analog televisions provide the maximum picture quality almost similar to HDTV sets.

To experience, the full benefits of HDTV signals, HDTV systems are always apt because the analog televisions will not be able to display the pictures with high resolution and surround sound as sharp as HDTV sets.

The HDTV converter automatically detects the input signal, which can be in RGBHV, YPbPr, or YCbCr format, and converts the signal into display with 480i, 480p, 720p, or 1080i resolution. Apart from this, the HDTV converters can also take 480i component video signals, and decode into the display with HDTV resolutions, where, "i" means interlaced and "p" means progressive. HDTV converters can transfer numerous pixels on a scan line into analog signals for horizontal resolutions. In the case of vertical resolutions, the HDTV converters will transform the 16:9 ratio HDTV picture with 1080i into a 480 scan line picture with 4:3 ratio or a picture with 360 scan line with 60 line black letterbox bars.

Unlike the ordinary television converters, HDTV converters are highly compact devices embedded with cutting-edge technology. With the increase in the demand, different brands and types of HDTV converters are available in the market. Philips, Viewsonic, Doremi Labs, Inc., JVC Professional Products Company, and Panasonic are some of the leading brands in HDTV converters. Prices of the HDTV converters will range from $150 to $300. HDTV converters can be purchased from local outlets or electronic stores. For better option in prices, brands, and types, online or electronic stores are always ideal.

Iron Man DVD Movie

You know you should expect a different kind of superhero when you cast Robert Downey Jr. as the lead role. That being said, Iron Man is different in good ways. Expertly updated from Marvel Comics longstanding comic series, Iron Man puts billionaire industrialist Tony Stark in the path of some Middle Eastern terrorists; in a brilliantly paced section, Stark invents an indestructible suit that allows him to escape. If the rest of the movie never quit hits that precise rhythm again, it nonetheless offers plenty of pleasure, as the renewed Stark swears off his past as a weapons manufacturer, develops his new Iron Man suit, and puzzles both his business partner and executive assistant (Gwyneth Paltrow).

Director Jon Favreau geeks out in fun ways with the hardware, but never lets it overpower the movie, and there's always a goofy one-liner or a slapstick pratfall around to break the tension. As for Downey, he doesn't get to jitterbug around too much in his improv way, but he brings enough of his unpredictable personality to keep the movie fresh. For all you die hard Marvel fans: even if you know the Stan Lee cameo role is coming, you won't be able to guess it until you see it on the screen. It all builds to a impressive final scene, with a closing line delivery by Robert Downey that just feels totally right.

Conclusion: Iron Man was is one of the best reviewed films of the year. The Visual Effects are amazing, Robert Downey Jr. is very good as Iron Man, the cast is excellent in this first film financed by Marvel Studios.

Grey's Anatomy

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Grey's Anatomy has been an incredible success. While a medical dramas of the best bets are in the TV section formula, Grey's Anatomy from the beginning seemed to be a pallid and banal repetition of the formula. A profession that seemed out of fashion section cut from an old Sears catalog, with stories hyperbolic screams and medical codes and demanding many CC is full of mysterious substances. Oh, let that 'paddle' thing. But it was not long before they took off the heavy andFor good reason, the letter, in essence, very motivated story, and behind those pretty faces are solid actors, and emote Vogue.

After achieving success on a high speed, but a move is questionable for the series tries to do a spin-off. First, they have to win one of their favorite performances of dramatic dynamic planning, Dr. Addison Forbes Montgomery (Kate Walsh played brilliantly.) This undoubtedly leave a huge hole indramatic substance of the show. Subsequently, the creation of spin-offs are so contrary to the formula. Instead of filling the cast with talented "just met," Walsh cushions are a variety of stakeholders, including knowledge, Tim Daly, Chris Lowell and Taye Diggs.

Probably the biggest risk involved in this initiative is the effect of Grey's Anatomy himself. Were spin-offs fail, simply moving back Walsh of Grey's Anatomy can be an easy task. Walshso central to the budget drama Grey's Anatomy, that writers are certainly welcome to his absence by creating a new balance on the card. This could throw in the fact Grey's Anatomy will be deactivated. Enough that the show could also suffer, and eventually fail.

It 'impossible to say whether this will happen, but one thing seems certain. Third year of Grey's Anatomy seems all too early to have a spin-off.

3D and satellite TV - The Next Generation of Sports Entertainment

Sports coverage on television is a national sport was the time elapsed since the invention of the vote first. Originally from baseball and football, all sports eventually made the "tube" formed and are now mass marketed to millions on a daily basis. Almost every day you can control a basketball game or hockey game.

In fact, with channels like ESPN Classic via cable and satellite TV, you can also watch old games from three decades ago. Thus,in case you missed the Super Bowl XXXII Denver Broncos and the loser victory against the Green Bay Packers in 1998, you can experience the action as if it happened yesterday.

Speaking of football, it's almost as if the television is now completely fed this direction. Any true hardcore football fans have season tickets and a subscription to NFL Sunday Ticket, so that everyone can see away games as well as to monitor and keep pace with rivals victories and defeats. Thisjust the normal thing to have.

And with the ultimate high definition, every type of game, game, or event is now under the format, transmit crystal clear clarity. Viewers can now see the games as if they were sitting on the sidelines, will be able to see the expression of pride in the face of the pitcher while the pasta is great joy, as the game winning shot just before the strikes 'Summer is the game of basketball. X-Games and extreme sportsEvents have moved to the medium again. Shaun White People watching may be prompted to run a half-pipe actually see the snow reflects the light in the night.

Now, with the recent 3D craze overtaking Hollywood, television broadcasters to think in order of things, 3D programming and channels offer faster than you. Companies are already planning to launch a satellite into specific 3D in March, according to the reports and channels like DiscoveryESPN summer and prepare for the programming on Next to start, with particular focus on the world's most popular sporting event: the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. Reports indicate that the first transmission format is a 3D game in the match against Mexico, South Africa.

All the talk about the new phenomenon, 3D, sports watch television, the next step, is never something thought possible. HD has brought people closer to the action, 3Dappear that the viewer is actually. If there is a snowstorm during a ski race, the snow was easy to fly right off the screen, the viewer displays the same way as actual competitors. If a basketball player dives into the crowd to keep the ball in play may seem as if it had exploded off the television. It 'absolutely crazy.

Of course, the actual format of new ways to play movies and events, as well as new requirementsTechnology and updates for TVs. If current trends these days have learned on television at all, is that people like what they see.

So who knows? In the next few years, all programming languages, whether athletic or not, may be broadcast in 3D. These special glasses is more than likely be packaged and sold with a new remote. Unless, of TV technology is so advanced that people do not need. The public can onlywait and see.

The Mummy - Tomb of the Dragon Emperor Review

I started watching this film with all the eager anticipation of the previous two films, which I really enjoyed, and have watched several times.

I have to say though this film did not deliver, and as usual for a follow up film it didn't really add anything new. The plot was the usual fare, with a long lost emperor being resurrected, not even a true mummy to be honest. The usual scenes to prevent him becoming immortal and the inevitable beating at the hands of Brendan Fraser, who seems always to win when every other immortal in the film has been easily pushed aside by the bad guy. To add insult to injury the brilliant Rachel Weisz was missing to be replaced Maria Bello who didn't add anything to the role and I thought was very weak. She is believed to have signed up for another three mummy films.

The chase scene was very reminiscent of the chase in "The Mummy Returns", with a couple of new twists and to be honest I did find that part enjoyable. There was the usual ending with the now two armies facing off to decide the fate of the world. Brendan Fraser and John Hannah played there roles well as would be expected with the normal quick fire one liners. The film also introduces the son as an adult and I wonder if this is a way of moving the films towards a new main character and slowly resigning Brendan Fraser to a secondary role and eventually be pulled all together.

All in all a very disappointing third installment to the franchise and I suspect if the fourth mummy film, rumoured to be starting soon, does not deliver then these series of films will go the same way of many others.

For me I will give it 4/10

Flat Panel Television

Cathode-ray Tube (CRT) displays have widely been used in televisions and computers for long. The displays have several advantages like wide viewing angles, superior colour resolution and low manufacturing costs. But these displays also suffer from drawbacks like excessive weight and high power & voltage consumption. The configuration of CRTs requires television sets to be virtually as thick as they are wide. Hence the demand for flat panel televisions is increasing day-by-day.

Technologists have developed alternative flat panel display (FPD) technologies to overcome the inherent drawbacks of CRTs. Prominent FPDs include liquid colour display (LCD), plasma display panel (PDP), vacuum fluorescent display (VFD), and electroluminescent display (ELD). A flat panel television display includes a flat panel on which a matrix of cells is formed between two glass substrates. A PCB module drives the panel. There are two types of FPDs - volatile and static.

A LCD provides a richer and higher resolution of colours as compared to the conventional CRT displays. A LCD essentially comprises of two glass substrates that are separated to form a predetermined space into which a layer of liquid crystals is injected. Flat panel televisions are gaining popularity these days as they improve visibility and reduce glare due to reflection of external light.

A FPD is preferred to a conventional spherical panel as it provides higher resolution power. These panels have exceptional colour accuracy and can display up to 16.77 million colours. The FPDs are gaining popularity among the masses as they are light-weight, consume less power and provide relatively sharp resolution.

The flat panel televisions are being preferred by consumers as they reduce image distortion, minimize eye fatigue and provide a wide range of visibility. The FPDs are usually less than 4 inches thick. These displays feature uniform screen brightness which means that they evenly illuminate all pixels across the screen. These displays do not use electronic beams and hence are immune to the effects of magnetic fields. Modern gadgets like laptops, cellular phones and digital cameras come equipped with FPDs. Flat panel televisions have sparked a revolution in home entertainment these days.

Dead Alive DVD Movie

I've seen the movie several times, and it keeps getting worse and worse. Dead Alive definitely has its good points, such as the kung-fu priest, the zombie baby, the walking intestines, and the giant monster that literally has a man-eating stomach. These are all awesome ideas and I praise Peter Jackson for his creativity, but if you're going to make a humorous horror movie, leave out some of the odd gory details.

The cheap soundtrack and disjointed photography made the characters and their surroundings deluded, not in the least bit humorous. Therefore, this movie is not a comedy, nor is it part of the horror genre, but merely an odd film. I almost felt disturbed while watching this movie, mainly because I didn't want to take the movie very seriously. You can't laugh with a movie like Dead Alive; you're more likely to laugh at it.

And this is fine if the movie were uncontrollably ridiculous, but there was too much distasteful gore, and not enough character development. I didn't have a sense of pride in the hero because he was such a loser, and the delusional gypsy that he fell in love with was just not believable enough. The hero was a secluded "mother's boy" who only had a girlfriend because of some coincidence due to his stupidity.

What kind of a hero is that? The monsters were the only enjoyable characters in the movie, especially the baby. Leave out the heartless dialogue and screwy acting, and then you've got a classic. Otherwise, it's an amateur horror movie that no one can possibly relate to. I give this movie credit because of its odd originality and definite creativity. Otherwise, this is not a movie I would look forward to seeing again. Buy it for the gore, not the laughs.

How 3D TV Technology Works

3D television technology is becoming increasingly popular with each passing day. Due to the rise of popular 3D feature films (namely Pixar's Up and James Cameron's Avatar), major television manufacturers began developing three dimensional home television technology in 2009.

There are several methods that these manufacturers use to create 3D images on an LCD television; some are more expensive than others, and some are more feasible than others. This article will discuss the three primary methods of 3-D home theater technology that will be used in upcoming years.

Lenticular viewing: This technology has been pioneered by Philips, and is available as of today. TV sets that use this technology can be watched without those funny glasses that audiences used in theaters. These televisions use a lens that can send different images to each eye. That is, your left eye will see a completely different image from your right eye, which will emulate your two eyes' use of stereopsis (the process by which your eyes discern depth). The one weakness of lenticular viewing, however, is that a viewer must sit in a very specific spot in front of the TV. This means that only a couple people would be able to comfortably watch the TV at once due to its small viewing angle.

Passive glass systems: Hyundai is developing this type of LCD monitor which will allow both 2D and 3D images to be viewed. To watch the 3-D images, viewers will need to wear the traditional glasses in order to watch three dinemsional media. This technology is nothing new: the TV has two overlapping images and the glasses have polarized lenses. Each lens is polarized so that it can see only one of the two overlapping images. This technology is very feasible and 40 to 50 inch LCD TVs with this technology are currently available for purchase.

Active glass systems: This system is very similar to the passive glass system, except rather than the TV doing all work, the glasses do. The glasses synchronize with the refresh rate of the TV, then they alternate the polarization of each lens, making the wearers of the glasses see 3-D images. With this technology, people could be watching a 2-D movie comfortably, then at will switch the movie into 3-D. This type of monitor is being developed by Samsung and Mitsubishi, but the downside is that the glasses could be very expensive. Some predict the glasses to be upwards of $100.

Choosing Your Perfect Plasma TV

Plasma TVs have become one of the important necessities in recent times. More so, because the prices of plasma televisions have dropped considerably, quality is getting better, and the plasma TV technology is also improving. Consumers today have a wide range of brands to choose from. LCDs are generally a bit more expensive than plasma TVs, and both have their own advantages and disadvantages. Read on to find out apparent advantages and disadvantages of Plasma televisions.

Advantages of Plasma Television:

Some of the benefits of purchasing a plasma television can be: better ability to deliver deep blacks, better contrast ratio, more color depth, more availability in larger screen sizes, and better motion tracking (also termed as the response time). You need to decide as to what kind of flat panel television you would like to go for, as each has their own benefits and disadvantages. For example, plasma TVs come with a host of other advantages such as large screen size that can be mounted on a wall or from the ceiling; have a higher resolution, have a flat screen; gives good room lighting etc.

Disadvantages of Plasma Television:

In comparison to LCD TVs, Plasma TVs have these inherent disadvantages: Plasma TVs are more susceptible to burn-in (this no more poses a problem due to technological advances in the recent years), not-so-good performance at higher altitudes, more generation of heat, heavier in weight, very delicate to ship, and very short display life span (this is also considerably reduced due to improvements in technology) Other disadvantages include: inherent potential burn-in quality due to phosphor technology, lower brightness, neither slimmest nor the lightest, has shorter life, and exorbitantly priced.

Deciding on Buying a Plasma TV:

Before you decide on which model of Plasma TV to purchase, you need to go to a dealer and compare feature and prices of different models of Plasma TV. You then need to make your decision based on which kind of Plasma TV will give you a pleasant image, and connection flexibility and the one that fits into your budget well.

Nevertheless, flat panel Plasma televisions are a good choice for home theatre, because prices continue to drop down with quality and features continuing to improve, and they are proving good value to consumers. Plasma TVs also offer superior sound and picture clarity that can be compared to a computer monitor is lightweight and easy to carry and ship. At the same time, Plasma TVs are very expensive to purchase and fix, could prove to be a complicated setup

Breaking the Myths of Wireless TV Headphones

Wireless TV headphones have been around for a while now and it seems many myths surround what they can and can't do. It seems I hear a different story about them. I thought it was time that we break these myths and get some of the true facts out about wireless TV headphones so people can judge for themselves if they are really what they want.

Probably one of the biggest myths you always hear about wireless TV headphones is they just don't work. Well that is just a myth and I will explain how they work so everyone is clear on this one. Basically a small transmitter takes sound and converts it into infrared light on the same principle as a remote control does the headset than takes that light and converts it into sound which will feed into your ears. It's really very simple, but effect just like the remote has worked for many years this works in a very similar way.

Second myth to bust is you can't go very far away from the base unit. I really don't know where this comes from but it's false. Every wireless TV headphones are different and the range will vary on different factors. Your available distance will depend on the unit, the area you live in, and other devices that you could have in your home. As you can see, many variables will affect the distance. Trust me though you don't have to stand right by it as many may lead you to believe.

Third the sound is muffled or just plain hard to hear. This is another myth that just seemed to gather legs and run. The truth is you will get very good sound of these new units as the technology has really come a long way. In fact it probably will be better than most headphones you try as using the infrared technology means no radio interference to deal with so you get great sound quality from every song or television show.

The last myth that needs to be clarified is that these can be used only with the television. This stems from various sources, but the truth is it can be used for many devices including the television. From computers to stereo systems the headphones have many uses. Myths get started for no really good reason, but now you have some of those myths busted and you know the truth. Wireless TV headphones worked well in many different applications and give you the ability to do many things. Let's look at a few.

Many times especially late at night sitting in bed you don't want to wake anyone than these are the perfect solution. Other times you may want to watch a television show in peace and with kids and the phone ringing its sometimes tough not any more with a set of wireless TV headphones. The uses are really endless and as technology improves these models will just get better over time. Add a set now and see what a difference they can make in your life right now.

Samsung 3D Television - Welcome to 3D Television

Image : http://www.flickr.com

I think everyone will agree that the concept of a Samsung 3D Television or anyone else's sounds cool. The only thing that has held the technology back is that it sucked up until now. People also seemed reluctant to use the funny-looking-glasses that came with the territory. But now Philips among others, claim that the glasses will soon be history and that the future of television comes right at you in 3 Dimensions!

A 3D television employs techniques of 3D presentation, such as stereoscopic capture, multi-view capture, or 2D plus depth, and a 3D display-a special viewing device to project a television program into a realistic three-dimensional field. This effect is accomplished by newly patented technology.

3D TV has been available since the early 50's, but then it was all about the funny looking glasses. The first movie for us to watch in 3D was the House of Wax. It came from Outer Space, Jaws, Terminator 2 and Spy Kids 3D are other notable productions that ventured into the new era.

Samsung has been a solid leader in TV technology and continues to deliver cutting edge options and user friendly interface. I had a chance to actually put on a pair of the Samsung active 3D glasses and watch an animated movie on the Samsung 3D capable flat screen Television.

The glasses operate by tricking your brain, allowing you to take in two separate images - one for the left eye and one for the right eye. The glasses do this by rapidly alternating between lenses, shutting off one eye at a time. You do not notice it doing this, except for when you first put them on and there is a strange flickering sensation as they warm up.

I'll have to tell you straight up. I was not impressed because recently my wife and I had the chance to see Avatar in 3D at a theater and it totally blew our minds. But should we expect that type of wow factor from a product that is designed for the everyday user. Yes. If it is sold as 3D then it better be good quality 3D.

Maybe I am old fashioned, but I will wait and see what happens to the Samsung 3D technology and prices after the hype dies down. I think the point is that 3D is an optional extra. Whenever you upgrade your TV from now on, you can choose a 3D Television for a little bit extra cash. But for now...I am quite happy with my 2D flat screen Plasma TV.
